History:

Estepa enjoys a dynamic and a dramatic historical background too dating back to the rule of the Romans. During the times of Ostippo, previously known as Visigoda, it belonged to the Kingdom of Tolosa.

From the eighth to the twelfth century i.e. during the istabba timing, it enjoyed all the strategic advantages geographically under the Arab domination of Al- Andalus. Again during the thirteenth century, around 1241, Fernando III Santo conquered it and delivered it to Santiago for its service, in 1267. Since Estepa was a border seat between the Nazari kingdoms, it could help in providing the holy protection of the church and the Christian territory around it.

During the nineteenth century, Estepa served as a crossroads where there were a series of social and political fights in relation to the occupation by the French and the rampant cases of banditry. In 1886 finally, the mother of Alfonso XIII, Maria Christina christened the town of Estepa to its present name.

The Tower of Tribute in the enclosure is maintained for it to flank the 13 metre of height separated by a tiny corridor as per the height of the enclosure of the palace.

The Church of Santa Maria located beside the Balcony of Andulacia is another major attraction spot for tourists. From this point you can view the whole of Sevilla, the range of mountains of Granada, Malaga and Cordoba. There is also, the Tower of Victory, which is about 40 metres tall and overlooks the beautiful countryside.
